About Jawad

Jawad Adra, born in Kefraya, North of Lebanon in 1954.

He co-founded SciTech Systems, a quality control company.
As a responsible member of the community and a strong defender of the public’s right to accurate information and independent analysis of socio economic and political events, Jawad Adra co- founded Information International, a research and consultancy firm in 1995 and The Monthly Magazine in 2003.
The Monthly is a bilingual research- based magazine that discusses socio-political and economic issues.
Additionally, Jawad Adra co-founded the The Social and Cultural Development Association (INMA) in 1997, a non-profit governmental organisation, servicing a cluster of villages, specific neighbourhoods and citizens throughout Lebanon.
He also co-founded Nabu Museum, a cultural hub in North Lebanon.
Jawad Adra was a candidate for Prime Minister on at least two occasions.

Education

Mr. Adra graduated summa cum laude from Santa Clara University in California, with a degree in Political Science in 1978. He is also a member of the Phi Beta Kappa society.

Early Years

Mr. Adra worked from 1978 to 1993 as an executive and consultant for a number of contracting companies in several Arab countries, including Yemen, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.

Personal Life

Mr. Adra is married to Mrs. Zeina Akar, the former Minister of Defense and Deputy Prime Minister in Hassan Diab’s government between January 2020 and September 2021.

Information International

Mr. Jawad Adra co-founded Information International in 1995, one of the region’s leading research and consultancy firms, founded with the awareness that a vacuum exists in the field of survey research, database collection and analysis in the Arab World and particularly the Near East and Arabian Peninsula. 

SciTech Systems s.a.l

In 1995, Mr. Adra co-founded SciTech Systems s.a.l, a company that works in the field of quality control, safety and compliance with international and national standards for consumer goods including food, automotive, building material, electronic equipment, pharmaceuticals, petroleum, energy and mining.

INMA

in 1997, Mr. Adra co-founded the Social and Cultural Development Association (INMA), a non-profit non-governmental organization that seeks to secure jobs for underprivileged communities, enhance youth education and protect environmental and cultural heritage.

Nabu Museum

Mr. Adra co-founded Nabu Museum in 2018 on the coast of Ras Al Shaqa’a, El Heri – Batroun. The mission of this project is to preserve and enhance the cultural heritage of Lebanon, the Levant and Mesopotamia. Jawad Adra considers this museum a nucleus for a research academy about the region and a safe haven for artists from Lebanon, Iraq, Syria and other Arab countries. 

KUTUB

Mr. Adra has a passion for rare books and making them available to the public. He is one of the partners in KUTUB, an online company that specializes in selling rare books. KUTUB specializes in procuring books from a range of countries, encompassing the Middle East, the Arabian Peninsula, Iraq, Yemen, the Holy Land, Syria, Lebanon, and North Africa. Moreover, the sourced books span a wide array of subjects, encompassing Arab texts, Arab history, as well as Middle Eastern and Armenian texts.
